Raquel R. Marquez is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology. My overall areas of interest are race and ethnic relations, Latino studies, and gender and immigration. My primary goal in teaching is to offer students the values, skills and knowledge required of them to integrate theory, research and community service an understandable and practical fashion. I accomplish this by teaching students to critically examine their social world through a sociological perspective and to use this knowledge to deconstruct social issues surrounding them. Raquel R.
