Dr. Mendez-Negrete is an assistant professor in the department of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies. She received her PhD in Sociology from the University of California , Santa Cruz in 1995. Her research interests include: Sociohistorical research with emphasis on Chicanas/os; Chicana/Latino leadership and activism in Urban Communities; Ethnic identity, focusing on Chicanas/os; Urban communities; Race, class, and gender studies; and Feminist theory.
