Diversity

"The University of Texas at San Antonio, a Hispanic Serving Institution situated in a global city that has been a crossroads of peoples and cultures for centuries, values diversity and inclusion in all aspects of university life. As an institution expressly founded to advance the education of Mexican Americans and other underserved communities, our university is committed to ending generations of discrimination and inequity. UTSA, a premier public research university, fosters academic excellence through a community of dialogue, discovery and innovation that embraces the uniqueness of each voice."

The Office of the Vice-Presdient for Inclusive Excellence is dedicated to making UTSA’s core values of inclusion, collaboration and excellence a reality throughout the institution.

The UTSA Neuroscience PhD program provides a fostering, supportive community atmosphere for minority students. The program trains students from a wide variety of diverse backgrounds, and many have progressed into postdoctoral positions at prestigious institutions or laboratory settings.

Financial support and professional development is provided by the RISE Program. This is an NIH-financed program to increase the success of underrepresented minorities in the biomedical sciences. The professional development opportunities provided by the program are available to all committed students.
