Tunnel of Oppression is an interactive experience that will challenge the way you think. Tunnel of Oppression is an interactive theater experience. Participants walk through different theaters designed to display oppression of marginalized groups. It started as a campus grassroots diversity program at Western Illinois University and can now be found at many colleges and universities around the nation. The Tunnel of Oppression at UTSA will be directed, written and performed by UTSA students. As an interactive presentation, The Tunnel is an eye-opening, conscious-raising experience: a brief introduction for those who have rarely or never experiencedoppression. After each 30-minute guided tour in and out of various theaters, participants are debriefed by professional counselors and counseling interns to discuss their reactions, which can sometimes be emotional.
