The UTSA RISE Office is located in the UTSA College of Sciences, in the Center for Research and Training in the Sciences, and houses nine research training programs. It is directed collaboratively by Drs. Edwin Barea-Rodriguez, Aaron Cassill, and Gail Taylor.
The RISE Office was named to honor the NIH-sponsored RISE (Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement) Program that, since 1979, served as the foundation upon which all other participating programs were developed. "Equity" replaces "Enhancement" to reflect the commitment of the office to ensure that all students are able to develop to their potential and attain their dreams to become scientists. The original RISE program has been replaced by our undergraduate MARC and doctoral-level IMSD programs and will phase out by March 2024.
