Extended Education is both supplemental education to a more traditional degree such as bachelor's and individual certifi ncations that can teach you new skills or highlight your current skills. In today's demanding job market, you can never be overeducated. The more education you have, the more marketable you are as a potential employee. However, we also have certifications and classes for your personal development and interests. If traditional education is more your style, we also have test preparation workshops for the SAT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, and MCAT exams.
The Office of Extended Education serves regional adult, professional and continuing education needs through a range of targeted programs that match the university’s unique resources with the lifelong learning needs of the central Texas area. Operating out of the UTSA Downtown Campus, the Office of Extended Education works collaboratively with academic and non-academic units of the university to develop and present seminars, online courses, conferences and programs for the general public, professional and governmental agencies, and businesses. Our dedicated staff is here to help you through all registration processes, support for your classes, and can answer many questions about your educational needs.
To provide and foster knowledge and connections for people to achieve their personal and professional goals.
Strive to be a front-runner among peer institutions in providing high-quality and relevant educational opportunities and services of individuals of all ages.
Extended Education courses and workshops are non-academic educational offerings for the public. We have participants from abroad and those local to the San Antonio area. You do not have to be a current academic UTSA student to take advantage in any of our educational offerings.
The following information are general guidelines to our registration processes. For more specific registration information, please visit the specific offering you wish to attend.
We urge participants to register early due to the limited size of many of our classes. Our more popular workshops reach classroom capacity weeks before the classes begin. Course fees must be paid in full prior to the start of a class. Registration is collected online, unless otherwise specified on the specific page for the program or workshop. Please visit each class page for the online registration link or other directions for registration.
For some of our more popular workshops, you may add yourself to a waiting list. If the class or workshop is full, you will see the image below on your registration screen under the class information:
Click the button to add yourself to the waiting list. There is no charge or deposit to add yourself to the waiting list. If there is a cancellation in the class, our staff will begin to go down the waiting list and contact list members with instructions. Once contacted, you will have 24 hours to contact us about your participation in the class and complete your payment. If we do not hear from you during these 24 hours, you will not get to enroll in the class. If you are no longer interested in the class and we contact you regarding the waiting list, we ask that you please let us know you are no longer interested so that we may offer the spot to the next person on the waiting list.
You may transfer to another course if we receive a written request from you at least five working days before the start of the new course. A transfer fee of $10 and the difference in tuition (if any) will be required in order to finalize the transfer.
Professional associations, boards, societies and organizations require their professional members to maintain their skills up-to-date. Many of our Extended Education programs are designated to issue Contact Hours and/or Continuing Education Credits (CEUs). Since our workshops and classes are varied, we ask that you call us directly to inquire. For additional information call (210) 458-2411.
Registration fees are collected online through our online registration database. Protecting your information is important to us, and we do not store credit card information. Because payments are not made in person, Extended Education does not process credit cards using both magnetic swipe and EMV (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) computer chip security. Extended Education is not liable for fraudulent transactions. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on this subject.
Refunds and withdrawals are processed according to the following rules:
Courses are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not attained. Extended Education reserves the right to cancel low-enrollment courses when necessary, as well as change time, dates and locations of course offerings. If a class is cancelled, or changed, every effort will be made to notify participants by phone and/or email prior to the first class meeting. For cancelled courses, a full refund will be granted or the participants may request to be transferred to another course on a space-available basis.
