The University of Texas at San Antonio understands the evolving cyber threat and the need for community educational resources. UTSA is dedicated to providing the community with effective, affordable and dynamic training opportunities in IT security.
Directed by UTSA researchers from the Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security (CIAS), a world's foremost cyber security think tank for multidisciplinary education and development of operational infrastructure security capabilities, IT security courses focus on creating an upper-level awareness of cyber threats, vulnerabilities and countermeasures.
Cybersecurity preparedness is more important than ever: A recent study by McAfee-Intel Security, cybercrime costs the global economy more than $445 billion on an annual basis and the cost of a data breach has increased by 29% since 2013 according to IBM/Ponemon. According to a recent benchmark study released by IBM, organizational data breaches are becoming a permanent operations cost, with the biggest financial impact coming from the loss of consumer trust.
Over the past 15 years, the CIAS has been on the forefront of cyber security training efforts. The CIAS has been called upon by Congress, with support from the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense, to strengthen the nation's cyber security preparedness. Recently, the CIAS conducted the Executive Leadership Cybersecurity Training for the Air National Guard and Army National Guard.
