Changes in Graduate Admissions Processing effective September 1, 2021

Dear Colleagues,

As you know, UTSA is adopting a new platform for managing Graduate Admissions, the Liaison UniCas system, to replace the current Embark platform. This new and exciting change is planned to go live September 1, 2021 and will provide a modern, dynamic, and customer friendly application experience for our students.

At the same time, this new platform will provide additional opportunities to strengthen our collaborations, streamline our processes, and enhance our services to the university community.

In order to achieve these broad goals, the graduate admissions processing area will be unified with undergraduate admissions processing area and will be housed within the division of Strategic Enrollment under the supervision of Eric Cooper, effective September 1, 2021 to coincide with adoption of UniCas. The operational transition of this organizational change, though, will take place during the fall semester. Our current graduate admissions staff (Lilliana Castaneda, Cameron Diehl, Evette “Gabby” Flores, Jessica Hartley and the current vacant position) will continue to provide the same excellent service to our graduate programs and prospective applicants in this new structure.

This administrative change will allow the Graduate School to enhance its focus and support for all graduate recruitment activities, as well as to lead the partnership with all faculty, academic programs, colleges and stakeholders to advance graduate education more broadly at UTSA towards our destination as a great public research university.

We look forward to implementing this stronger collaboration between the division of Strategic Enrollment and the Graduate School and welcome the anticipated opportunities for more effective service, greater process efficiencies, and additional learning opportunities.
