Roadrunner Faculty, Staff and Student Employees,
Today you will be receiving (or may have already received) messages from UT Health San Antonio regarding COVID-19 vaccinations. This is one part of our ongoing effort to vaccinate as many members of the Roadrunner community as possible, based on interest and eligibility.
We are pleased to announce that we now have two new options for Phase 1A/1B-eligible employees to receive vaccinations.
UTSA Vaccination Program
UTSA has received our next allocation of 500 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine from the state.
The data we gathered from last month’s survey of faculty, staff and student workers indicated that there are approximately 1,000 Phase 1A/1B-eligible employees who have not yet been vaccinated and would like to receive one through UTSA. This information was used to advocate for additional doses from the state.
Vaccine clinics for Phase 1A/1B-eligible faculty and staff will be held March 8-9 on the Main Campus. Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You are eligible to schedule an appointment if this will be your first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and you currently qualify under Phase 1A/1B requirements. The Moderna vaccine requires a second dose administered 4-6 weeks after the first dose. Rest assured that you will have an opportunity to receive your second dose. When UTSA receives a first dose allocation, the second dose is automatically provided to us at a later date. As the time for your second dose approaches, you will receive instructions to schedule your appointment from UTSA Recovery Operations.
We encourage you to visit our COVID-19 vaccine web page for additional information on the vaccine, what you can expect at your appointment, and more. If you have questions regarding UTSA’s vaccination clinics, we encourage you to review our COVID-19 vaccine FAQs or reach out to recoveryops@utsa.edu.
UT Health San Antonio Appointments
In addition to the UTSA vaccine clinics, we are pleased to announce that Phase 1A/1B-eligible faculty and staff also have the opportunity to get a COVID-19 vaccine through UT Health San Antonio. The invaluable partnership between our institutions makes this opportunity possible, and we provided UT Health San Antonio with your contact information in order to communicate with you.
You received (or will receive) an email from UT Health San Antonio with information and instructions for scheduling an appointment. Although the standardized language in the email states you are “eligible to receive the COVID-19 Vaccination,” please note the UT Health San Antonio vaccinations are open only to Phase 1A/1B-eligible UTSA employees at this time. If you are an eligible employee and unable to attend the UTSA vaccine clinic, we encourage you to take advantage of this vaccine opportunity through UT Health San Antonio.
Vaccination Look Ahead
While we must continue to navigate the challenges of this pandemic, these vaccines are a critical step forward. Please know that UTSA will continue to request vaccines from the State of Texas, as allowed, and work with UT Health San Antonio on our vaccine delivery operation. In the coming days, if additional categories of eligibility within the general population are opened by the CDC and/or the State of Texas, we will work to expand our vaccine offerings.
