UTSA's 2024 medal is inspired by the total solar eclipse occurring just 10 days before the the start of Fiesta, on April 8, 2024. Our medal features a rotating wheel of the sun's progressive moon shadow framing UTSA's iconic Roadrunner statue and the San Antonio skyline - a unique souvenir of the celestial event with a literal Roadrunner spin! The 49th Annual Fiesta Arts Fair medal is designed by artist Cruz Ortiz in his stylistic font. Ortiz is a graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio and is a renowned contemporary artist known for his paintings, screenprints and installations. The UTSA Fiesta Arts Fair, held on the UTSA Southwest historic campus, has grown into a highlight of the annual Fiesta San Antonio® celebration.
