International Latin Jazz & Arts Festival
UTSA Downtown Campus @ Bill Miller Plaza
Join us for this first-annual pachanga celebrating the sounds, taste, art and culture of "All Things Latin" at San Antonio’s newest Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Proudly sponsored in part by UTSA, the festival features a full lineup of live music, Latin cuisine, dance & music workshops and exhibitors, headlined by the world-famous Spanish Harlem Orchestra.

Dieciséis de Septiembre Parade
Join this annual community celebration of Mexico’s independence sponsored by the Avenida Guadalupe Association. UTSA’s Westside Community Center—located at the parade’s starting location at Guadalupe and Brazos Streets—will be open to visitors for the duration of the event.
Rio Bravo
A production of the Gudalupe Cultural Arts Center, Rio Bravo showcases the vibrant music and dance traditions of the Texas-Mexico border region. Featuring the Guadalupe Dance Company and Mariachi Azteca de América, the performances will be filmed live both nights, courtesy of UTSA's College of Liberal and Fine Arts. Tickets start at $30.
UTSA Football Hispanic Heritage Game
Cheer on our Roadrunners as they face Houston Christian University! Featuring a special halftime show with Ballet Folklórico Sol de San Antonio and Mariachi Los Paisanos performing with the Spirit of San Antonio Marching Band.
Mariachi Los Paisanos Concert
Mariachi Los Paisanos and Mariachi Juvenil de UTSA are excited to announce their inaugural Fall Recital. Join us to enjoy an evening of exceptional mariachi music as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. We look forward to sharing this special performance with you!

Come to eat. Come to Drink. Come to share and celebrate Mexican culinary traditions. Join UTSA Libraries for events honoring our renowned Mexican Cookbook Collection. Enjoy food and drinks inspired by its recipes and prepared by award-winning chefs. Proceeds will support the development and preservation of the Mexican Cookbook Collection.
Latin American Art Song Recital
Featuring songs written by Latin American composers and performed by UTSA alumni and guest artists, this School of Music's Artist Series event is part of The Canciones Project, which provides recitals, lectures and more to help change the way Latin American vocal music is studied and performed.
2024 Conference on Voting Rights
Join the conversation around the current status of voting rights in Texas at this flagship event produced by the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project in honor of their 50th anniversary.
A Tour of Hispanic Music
Join us for a recital featuring a variety of Hispanic music from Spain and Latin America. The evening’s entertainment will include pieces by UTSA faculty, the UTSA Mariachi Los Paisanos, and special guest artists including the director of Texas A&M International University's Mariachi Internacional.
UTSA Jazz Ensemble
Join the UTSA Jazz Ensemble as it pays tribute to the Latino jazz musicians who helped innovate and infuse this genre with their rhythms leading to what we know as Latin Jazz. This event will feature compositions and arrangements by Latino jazz musicians.

Hispanic Heritage Month September 15 – October 15, 2024
Each year across the U.S., people observe National Hispanic Heritage Month by celebrating the rich histories, art, stories and cultural contributions of those whose ancestry can be traced back to Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. The month begins September 15 because that is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18.
Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, UTSA will showcase community leaders, faculty, staff and students around significant themes in Latinx culture.
