Living on campus sets you up for success. When you live on campus, you have close access to key people and valuable campus resources. UTSA's Housing and Residence Life has well trained staff to help students have a great experience and a variety of housing options available for students to choose from.
Alvarez Hall offers individual rooms with two students sharing a bathroom and includes Special Interest Housing. Laurel Village offers apartment-style units with individual bedrooms in either a two bedroom/one bath suite or four bedroom/two bath suite. Chaparral Village offers three different housing options a 2-bedroom, 4-bedroom, or 4-bedroom double option suite. The most affordable housing option being the 4-bedroom double suite option.
To help us meet the demand of our growing enrollment and provide a more cost-effective on campus housing option, Housing and Residence Life is offering a limited number of double-occupancy rooms for the 2019-2020 academic year. While final rates are not yet set, the cost of these double occupancy suites will be at least a 40% savings on the single-occupancy rate. All rates include utilities, IP television, and high-speed internet with Wi-Fi is available throughout each community.
Many students enjoy having a roommate when they enter college, and the cost savings for a double occupancy room is significant. Students with roommates will have the opportunity to learn valuable skills like the art of compromising and consideration for others, as well as patience and a willingness to work out any differences that may exist regarding noise levels, sleeping habits, visitors, etc.—being able to resolve those kinds of issues are skills all college graduates will need and eventual employers will want.
This new option will be available as part of the Academic Year housing application for 2019-2020. Indicate your interest in this option as you complete the application steps. As always, the sooner you complete your application steps, the more likely we will be able to honor your first choice regarding your housing preferences. Space is limited so you will want to act quickly if you are interested in this option. Applications become available on Saturday, October 20, 2018.
