Black History Month Events

Throughout February, UTSA will commemorate Black History Month by celebrating the lives, culture, contributions and history of the African American community. Themed “Resistance. Persistence. Excellence.,” UTSA’s Black History Month celebration features events across campus including keynote speakers, African quilt workshops, the Racial Justice Book Club and other programming.

UTSA has been named a recipient of the 2022 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award by INSIGHT Into Diversity, one of the nation’s oldest and largest diversity publications in higher education. The award recognizes UTSA’s success in creating an environment that is welcoming and inclusive of all students, faculty and staff.

Hispanic Heritage Month Events

Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, UTSA will showcase community leaders, faculty, staff and students around significant themes in Latinx culture. During these challenging times with the ongoing pandemic, racial unrest and political divide, UTSA’s celebration will focus on hope and resilience mirroring the national theme for this year. Roadrunners will celebrate the month with this guiding theme: “Unidos: Building a Stronger UTSA.” It’s an encouragement not just to look back and celebrate the past, but to honor the journey that now paves the path to an exciting and bold future.
