Growing Artists

Perhaps now more than ever—as the world more interconnected, and the workplace more oriented around technology and creativity—arts education is a key to ensuring student success in school, work, and life. Community Art Programs offer multiple avenues for access to the visual arts for young artists. Explore a range of Young Artist programs to nurture and celebrate their creative ability. Classes are available throughout the year, providing age appropriate learning for ages 5 to 17 years old.

UTSA Southwest

The beautiful, historic Southwest campus is home to state-of-the-art facilities, highly skilled instructors, top quality equipment and a welcoming community of people who believe in the crucial role that the visual arts play in our society. The Southwest campus is known nationally for its outstanding facilities and for its exhibitions featuring regional, national, and international artists. The campus is an officially recognized Texas Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Fall 2024 Art Studio Classes

Youth Art Studios provide young artists with the opportunity to learn directly from dedicated artist-instructors. Classes are offered in a variety of media for ages 5 – 18. Students work on projects throughout the week as they delve into art topics, explore different media, and new ways of making.

Dr. Marie-Claire Valdez Appointed Director of Young Artist Programs at UTSA PaCE

UTSA Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) has named Dr. Marie-Claire Valdez as the new Director of Young Artist Programs for Community Art, where she will lead programming that fosters creativity and artistic skills for more than 2,000 young artists annually.

For over 25 years, our Mobile Arts Program (MAP) has served the greater San Antonio area by taking art to the community. MAP provides hands-on learning and demonstrations by practicing artists.
