Miscellaneous Scholarships

Miscellaneous scholarships are from various scholarship organizations, foundations or businesses. Applications for these scholarship can be in paper form or accessed through web links.

The Office of Student Financial Aid & Enrollment Services also displays outside scholarship applications near the front entrance to the Student Financial Aid & Enrollment Services counter. Miscellaneous scholarship information can also be found at the downtown campus at FAESC and in the offices of certain college departments for major specific scholarships.

Students are encouraged to periodically check these locations for scholarship opportunities.

How are students awarded?

  • Students apply independently through organizations such as Rotary Clubs, Booster Clubs, high school, the Baumberger Endowment, Ford to Salute, etc.

How is the Office of Student Financial Aid and Enrollment Services notified?

  • Students are to inform our office of who is issuing the scholarship, the dollar amount and the duration.
  • Some organizations will automatically provide this information to our institution.

In what format do we get checks?

  • Issued to the student in both the student and UTSA's name,
  • or issued directly to the student in the student's name.

Miscellaneous scholarship checks

  • If a check is made out to UTSA only:
    • Student should bring or mail the check to Student Financial Aid and Enrollment Services Center
    • Student needs to complete the Outside Donor Scholarship Form
  • If a check is made out to both UTSA and the student:
    • Student must endorse the back of the check and bring or mail the check to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Enrollment Services.
    • Student needs to complete the Outside Donor Scholarship Form
  • If a check is mailed directly to the student and is in the student's name only:
    • Student is still required to inform UTSA of the scholarship amount so that we can include the amount in the student's award package
    • Student needs to complete the Outside Donor Scholarship Form

Where do I mail my scholarship check?

University of Texas At San Antonio
Office of Student Financial Aid and Enrollment Services
One UTSA Circle
San Antonio, TX 78249

Please only mail scholarship checks to Student Financial Aid Enrollment Services. Tuition payments must be mailed to Fiscal Services.

What if I do not attend UTSA but my donor has sent my scholarship check to UTSA?

If a student is not enrolled at UTSA at census date, funds will be refunded to the donor, not the student. If a student decides not to attend UTSA and the scholarship check has already been sent to UTSA, the student must notify their donor and Student Financial Aid and Enrollment Services so that the check/funds can be returned to the donor as soon as possible. UTSA cannot transfer scholarship funds to another institution. It will be up to the donor to send funds to the new institution.
