Graduate Programs


The Department of Computer Science at UTSA offers offers two Master of Science degrees, Computer Science and Cybersecurity Science, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Computer Science.

The Master of Science degree in Computer Science offers integrated studies involving software and hardware. The Department of Computer Science also offers concentrations in Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and Data Science as part of the Master of Science degree.

The Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity Science offers a comprehensive and hands-on education in the area of cybersecurity.The program provides students with a broad exposure to the highly dynamic cybersecurity discipline along with a deep technical and scientific understanding of the related concepts, tools and techniques.

In addition to completing advanced course work, our PhD students work side-by-side with our faculty to conduct cutting-edge research in a variety of different areas. The alumni of our PhD program now work as faculty or as independent researchers in industry or academia.

Admissions

Please refer to the Computer Science (MS), Cybersecurity Science (MS), and Computer Science (PhD) Admission Requirements for details on the admissions process. The main items in the application are:

  • Bachelor's degree with 18 credit hours in an area related to this graduate degree and at least 12 hours must be at the upper-division level
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Completed application form
  • Official transcripts
  • Credential evaluation required if you have earned university-level credit from foreign institutions.
    Submit an evaluation of your transcripts from Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) directly from the graduate admission application platform.
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Resumé
  • TOEFL/IELTS Score (international applicants)
