Undergraduate Programs

Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Degrees in Geosciences*
* formerly Geology

At UTSA, you can earn either the B.A. or B.S. in Geosciences. The B.A. is for those looking to receive a quality preparatory education in the discipline and the B.S. is for those who intend to become professional geologists or plan to attend graduate school in geosciences. A degree in Geosciences will prepare you for careers in petroleum, mining, water resources, environmental management, governmental agencies, engineering geology, geochemistry, geophysics, and natural resources.

For students with specific interest in addressing water resource or climate issues, we also offer two areas of concentration within the Geosciences degree (B.A. or B.S.):

  1. Hydrology
  2. Earth System and Climate

Bachelor of Science Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies: Geoinformatics Track

The Earth and Planetary Sciences department also plays a critical role in the Geoinformatics track of the Multidisciplinary Studies B.S. degree offered through the University College.
