Electrical Signaling

The transfer of information throughout the brain depends on the electrical activity in neurons and the corresponding release of transmitters. Neuronal activity is influenced by both synaptic input and the intrinsic properties of the neuron itself. Our researchers use a variety of recording approaches ranging from brain slice electrophysiology to in vivo recording to study the factors regulating electrical activity in neurons and the corresponding effects on neural circuits and behavior.
