Advisory Board

Charge

To proactively and systemically address strategic issues of critical importance to develop and maintain a welcoming and inclusive campus at UTSA. The IEAB will use nationally recognized best practices as a foundation for their work, shaping priorities based on feedback from broad, representative segments of the UTSA community. The IEAB will create additional committees, councils, and task forces to advance specific aspects of inclusive excellence as needed.

Initially, the IEAB will assess the 2017-2018 diversity surveys administered to faculty/staff and students, using the data to enhance the development of the IEAB’s role and mission and assist in developing priorities for 2019-20. Another early project will be to continue the efforts begun by the Provost’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council to develop an institutional inclusive excellence statement to run alongside UTSA’s mission, vision and core values.

On an ongoing basis, the IEAB will:

  • Assist the Vice President for Inclusive Excellence in establishing and maintaining a framework for inclusive excellence at UTSA
  • Identify challenges and provide recommendations to UTSA’s senior leadership
  • Review and recommend changes to processes and policies as needed
  • Monitor progress of committees and report to stakeholders at regular intervals
  • Work with the Campus Climate Team to evolve campus bias incident reporting processes
  • Provide coordination and support for existing affinity groups, committees and other inclusive excellence entities at UTSA
