(Sept. 6, 2005)--UTSA and the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) will present "Punto de Partida" (Starting Point), a seminar dedicated to Chicano literature, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8 at the Buena Vista Street Building Aula Canaria (1.328), UTSA Downtown Campus.
Free parking will be available in the upper level of the UTSA parking garage.
Ricardo Romo, UTSA president, and Gerardo Estrada, UNAM dean of cultural diversity, will deliver opening remarks.
Panelists include Gerardo Kleinberg, UNAM director of literature; Norma Cantu, UTSA professor of English, classics and philosophy; John Phillip Santos, San Antonio author and filmmaker; Axel Ramirez, UNAM coordinator of Latin American studies and Helena Maria Viramontes, Cornell University associate professor of English. The moderator is Mario Melgar Adalid, UNAM-San Antonio director.
