UTSA College of Public Policy hosts water management discussion April 1

(March 31, 2015) – The UTSA College of Public Policy will host a panel discussion about the city’s water management strategy and its impact on public policy and economic development from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 1 in the Buena Vista Theater (BVB 1.326) at the UTSA Downtown Campus. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Panelists will discuss how proactive water planning is helping transform San Antonio into a model city of responsible growth, quality of life and long-term sustainability.

Panelists at the event will include SAWS President and CEO Robert R. Puente, District 8 Councilman Ron Nirenberg, UTSA College of Public Policy Associate Dean and Associate Professor Francine Romero and San Antonio Chamber of Commerce President Richard Perez. Robert Rivard ’96, founder and director of the Rivard Report, will moderate the discussion.

Following remarks by the four-member panel, members of the audience will have an opportunity to ask the panel questions about the proposed Vista Ridge Pipeline project.

This is the final community discussion in UTSA’s three-part “Conversations on Water” series, sponsored by the San Antonio Water System. The series examined the Edwards Aquifer Protection Program and other water issues facing Texas.

The UTSA College of Public Policy seeks to foster academic discussion on a variety of major issues that affect the community, the nation and the world.

Free event parking will be available in unmarked spaces in lot D-3 beneath IH-35.
