Office of Information Technology holds Spring Tech Fest April 7-8

(April 3, 2015) -- The UTSA Office of Information Technology will host its inaugural OIT Spring Tech Fest on Tuesday, April 7 through Wednesday, April 8, 2015. UTSA faculty, staff and students are invited to attend and expand their knowledge of technology resources available to them. The event will feature presentations, a vendor fair, and keynote speakers.

In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to attend sessions from leading technology and business solutions companies including Microsoft, Apple, Gartner, Code 42, and Ricoh!

Sponsored by OIT, the conference will provide the UTSA community with the opportunity to attend professional development sessions presented by IT experts as well as industry leaders and partners.

The vendor fair will also provide attendees an opportunity to interact with IT and business solutions vendors as well as UTSA departments in order to learn more about working efficiently as students or professionals.

Session topics are aimed at helping attendees understand new and upcoming resources, including:

-Office 365 & SharePoint Basics Overview: Making these cloud based solutions work for you

-Toopher Two-Factor Authentication: Required to safely and securely access your important data while on and off campus. Coming Summer 2015!

-Protecting UTSA Data: Learn about the data storage options available for collaboration, remote access, and Category 1 data

-Qualtrics Survey Creation: Beyond Survey Monkey: a professional and efficient way to collect information

-Unified Messaging – Voicemail +: This system allows you to send voicemails to your email, check your calendar and emails, and much more using just your phone!

-Microsoft Lync: Meet with your office team, students, classmates, or colleagues without the hassle of travel or reserving a physical location. Faculty have the added opportunity to learn about Lync for lecture capture

-Video Production: Create videos that engage students and enhance their experience

-Online Course Development: Identify resources and tools available for successful adoption of online learning environments

-Leveraging Gartner: Bring timely, objective real-world examples and content to the classroom and student experience. Learn how technology can enable UTSA's ability to attract, acquire, and retain students
