UTSA to celebrate community engagement at annual day of service April 11

(April 7, 2015) -- UTSA volunteers will celebrate the joys of giving back to the community during its annual United to Serve day of service on Saturday, April 11. There will be a kick-off event launching the volunteers into the community on Friday, April 10 at 12:30 p.m. in the H-E-B University Center Ballroom (1.104).
The 11th annual service event, sponsored by the Student Center for Community Engagement and Inclusion, will feature volunteer opportunities across San Antonio and the surrounding communities. Projects will include community gardens, painting youth centers, landscaping, making educational packets, and arts and craft projects.
Volunteers can sign up as individuals or as groups. Faculty, staff, students, alumni and their families and friends are encouraged to participate by registering at www.utsa.givingpulse.edu before Wednesday, April 8.
Mayor Ivy Taylor and Councilman Ron Nirenberg will present the UTSA community with city citations recognizing the extraordinary efforts of UTSA in its commitment to community engagement. UTSA was recently honored with President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll and the Carnegie Foundation’s prestigious Community Engagement Classification.
