(Aug. 5, 2015) -- Meet Nathan Gamez '10. At 12 years old, he knew exactly what he wanted to be: an entrepreneur who gives back to the community.

With a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from UTSA and a passion for health and fitness, the 27-year-old became a certified fitness trainer after graduating and last year opened Move. Fit. Live., a 10,000-square-foot gym near the university.

Move. Fit. Live. began as an organization that allowed Gamez to help people get moving.

As a personal trainer, he wanted to help people from all walks of life live a healthy lifestyle. He held free workouts in area parks and posted free workouts on social media.

It was his UTSA professors in the College of Education and Human Development who helped motivate him to where he is now.

"From the challenging classes to helping me develop skills to work with people, they each had their impact on my life," Gamez said.

He also credits his entrepreneurial spirit to his parents, who taught him about hard work.

"I knew that if I was going to work this hard all of my life, I needed to do what I love," Gamez said.

And he continues to find ways to have fun with his business while combining acts of service.

A recent event entailed a group from the gym helping another member move from one house to another – all while doing lunges and other exercises. Gamez also hosts fundraising events, including the Donate a Mile Program, where people volunteered to run a mile in honor of a woman with cancer while donating money to help with financial expenses.

"My motivation has always been this: Find what you love and do it. And I am," Gamez said.
