UTSA photo of the day: The iron Roadrunner cometh
(Aug. 27, 2015) — One year ago today, the 6-foot-tall, 1,000-pound iron Rowdy statue that now stands watch over Sombrilla Plaza was dedicated in a special ceremony. Pictured here is the moment Rowdy first arrived on campus on the back of artist R.G. Box's pick-up truck on Sept. 6, 2013. Box, who spent 1,000 hours at his forge crafting the Rowdy, feathers and all, unveiled the statue for a crowd of hundreds of excited students, faculty, staff and alumni at special rally at the Main Campus. Read how UTSA students led the charge to Bring Rowdy Home and give UTSA its first-ever Roadrunner statue.
