(Oct. 20, 2015) -- UTSA, the San Antonio Express-News and Time Warner Cable News San Antonio will host a town hall meeting on The Decade of Downtown, the progress and challenges of revitalizing San Antonio’s downtown core at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4 in the Buena Vista Street Building Theater (BVB 1.326) at the UTSA Downtown Campus. The event is free and open to the public.

In 2010, former Mayor Julian Castro introduced “The Decade of Downtown,” the vision to make San Antonio a world-class city by the year 2020. The revitalization plan aims to attract new residents, businesses and development to the downtown area. Notably, San Antonio would add 5,000 housing units and more than 13,000 new jobs (a workforce increase of 25 percent). The town hall meeting will discuss the progress that has been made toward that vision and the challenges that need to be addressed to make San Antonio a vibrant place for citizens to live, work and play.

Four panelists will discuss issues related to the downtown area. They include Robert Trevino, District One City Councilman; Heywood Sanders, UTSA College of Public Policy Professor; Lew Moorman, Rackspace senior consultant and board member/founding member of Tech Bloc; and Pat DiGiovanni, president and CEO of Centro San Antonio. Francine Romero, associate professor and associate dean of the UTSA College of Public Policy, will moderate.

Free event parking will be available in unmarked spaces in lot D-3, beneath IH-35.
