UTSA joins San Antonio in celebrating Navy Week

(Feb. 15, 2018) -- The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Office of Veteran and Military Affairs is hosting a day full of outreach events and activities by the U.S. Navy on Monday, Feb 19, 2018. These events are part of a larger Navy presence in San Antonio called Navy Week with various events in the community starting Feb 19 and culminating with a Navy Band Concert at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo on Sunday, Feb 25.

Navy Week events provide the community a chance to learn about the Navy, its people and its importance to national security.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our UTSA faculty, staff and student populations to experience life in the Navy on the campus by engaging with Navy personnel, observing various demonstrations and participating in a hands-on virtual reality STEM simulator”, said Lisa Carrington Firmin, associate provost for veteran and military affairs at UTSA. “These opportunities align with UTSA’s goal to engage cybersecurity experts from government, industry and academia to solve some of the greatest challenges our nation is facing.”
