Jump Start Program - General Chemistry
The goal of Jump Start – General Chemistry is to help participants prepare for the Chemistry Placement Test. Successful completion of the placement exam will allow students to enroll in General Chemistry I, helping them complete their degree in a timely manner. Historically, 68% of Jump Start – General Chemistry participants, who completed the program, placed into General Chemistry I.
Each Jump Start General Chemistry session is two days, generally occurring on Wednesday and Thursday. During these sessions, participants have the opportunity to review basic Chemistry material with a UTSA professor and experienced upperclassman tutors. As part of the second day, participants have the opportunity to take the Chemistry Placement exam.
Jump Start – General Chemistry is a free program, however participants are responsible for their own housing, transportation, parking, food and incidentals along with any testing fees. For more information on Jump Start – General Chemistry and information about registration and housing, please contact the Jump Start program at (210) 458-6783.
Students are allowed to take the Chemistry Placement exam only once every two years so it is important that students are as prepared as possible to do their best on the first attempt. Participants will use one attempt during the program. For more information about the Chemistry Placement exam, please contact Testing Services at (210) 458-4125 or visit their website at http://www.utsa.edu/testing/
