Victim and Witness Information

 

The University of Texas at San Antonio Police Department is committed to the development, implementation and continuation of appropriate victim/witness services. It is our goal to create good rapport between law enforcement professionals and those persons within our society who have been directly affected by crime.

 

The code of Criminal Procedure, Chapter 56, subchapter a, provides basic rights for victims of violent crime. To the best of the Department’s ability, the University of Texas at San Antonio Police shall provide these rights to victims of violent and non- violent crime.

 

Crime Victim’s Liaison Officer (Victim/Witness Assistance Coordinator): The Crime Prevention Unit Supervisor is designated to establish and maintain a positive working relationship between our agency and the Texas Attorney General’s Office regarding victim/witness assistance programs an may be reached at 210.877.4006 or 24-hours a day at 210.458.4242 (UTSA-PD Dispatch). 

 

Protective Order Information:  The Crime Prevention Unit of the UTSA Police Department can assist victims of domestic violence in obtaining a protective order.  For more information about what a protective order is go to the San Antonio Police Department website at http://www.sanantonio.gov/SAPD/SAF_PO.htm

The UTSA Police Department works in conjunction with UTSA’s Counseling Services for students.  Counseling Services has on staff trained on the following issues: Sexual Assault Prevention Program, Women's Resource Center, Sexual Assault Issues, Trauma/Victimization & Recovery and Intimate Partner Violence Issues.  You may contact Counseling Services at 210.458.4140.  After hours or during an emergency, contact the UTSA Police Department Dispatch at 210.458.4242.  We will then contact the on-call counselor.
