Re-Admission Student Requirements

Returning Student Admission Requirements are determined by each applicant's academic history at UTSA. When determining the cumulative grade point average for readmission, we will consider all coursework attempted since leaving UTSA, this includes repeated courses.

You have never been academically dismissed:

  • Have at least a cumulative C average (2.25 CGPA on a 4.0 scale) in all college hours attempted since last enrolled at UTSA
  • Be eligible to return to most recent institution

NOTE: UTSA students who have not enrolled in classes for less than three semesters and have not attended another college or university since leaving UTSA, may register for classes during the regular registration period.

You were academically dismissed while in the provisional program:

  • Have at least a C average (2.25 CGPA on a 4.0 scale) in a minimum of 12 semester credits of transferable college coursework
  • Be eligible to return to most recent institution

You were academically dismissed once:

  • Cannot attend UTSA for one full academic semester immediately following dismissal
  • Have at least a cumulative C average (2.25 CGPA on a 4.0 scale) in all college hours attempted since last enrolled at UTSA
  • Be eligible to return to most recent institution

You have been academically dismissed two or more times:

  • You must submit a Petition for Undergraduate Reinstatement by the appropriate deadline. The academic college to which the application is submitted will render the decision. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions does NOT set the admission requirements for those petitioning for reinstatement.

Additional Information

  • Former UTSA students who have not been in attendance for more than three consecutive semesters (Summer term included) must reapply for admission by submitting an ApplyTexas Application by the application deadline. The application should be submitted electronically through the ApplyTexas Web site.
  • All previous college work will be considered. Students are not at liberty to disregard previous college work attempted. If you have attended other institutions of higher education since you were last enrolled at UTSA, you must submit an official transcript from each institution.
  • If you are applying after a first dismissal with work in progress, you will be deferred for receipt of those grades. The Work in Progress MUST be received by the appropriate Deferred Deadline.

Attention international students:

You must reapply for admission if you have not been in attendance for one semester. This excludes the summer semester.

To Re-apply

  1. Apply online at applytexas.org
  2. Pay a non-refundable application processing fee of $60 (fee waivers are not accepted for re-admission applicants)
  3. Submit official college transcripts from all institutions attended after leaving UTSA
  4. Submit Petition for Undergraduate Reinstatement by petition deadline (if you have been academically dismissed two or more times)
