Academic Coaching for Graduate Students

Academic coaching is the one-on-one process of helping a student identify his or her study strengths and weaknesses, and then building an effective and flexible set of study skills. An academic coach will work with you individually, assess your strengths and needs, and devise a personalized plan for you.

Academic coaching is FREE to all registered UTSA students. Academic coaching is supported through the Student Services Fee.

Quotes from satisfied students:
"Melissa has been helpful in helping to realize my potential as a graduate student. I’m grateful to both the TRC and Melissa for helping me become a better student."
--T.H., graduate student in COEHD

"The Academic Coaching is great. I have a problem with English speaking and writing. Before I saw Melissa, I was so worried about my career future, because I didn't know how to change and overcome it. After I saw Melissa and had a meeting with her, I felt my attitude is more positive and not worry so much. She told me possible ways to improve English skills and how to meet people. And gave me valuable information and resources she found on campus and online. She is so patient and helpful, I very much appreciated it. I tried my best and made lots of progress. I will keep going."
--Y.Y., graduate student in Engineering
