Student Union offers staples for every Roadrunner

Student Union offers staples for every Roadrunner

(Sept. 3, 2019) -- The UTSA Student Union has everything students need to study, relax and enjoy campus life at UTSA. Get the most from the Student Union by taking advantage of these top Student Union essentials.

The Info Desk: best help for students to find their way around

Come visit the Info Desk for directions, VIA bus schedules or a complimentary cup of tea or lemonade on your way to class. The Info Desk is located next to the Rowdy Campus Store. Each week, the desk hosts free Popcorn Tuesdays and Spirit Fridays with great giveaways. All Info Desk staff are UTSA students with a passion for helping their fellow Roadrunners.

Study Rooms: a quiet place to study

The Student Union offers two study rooms for UTSA students.  Recently renovated in spring 2019, the study rooms feature dry erase boards on three walls, and are the perfect size for a small study group or an individual.  Check-out the study rooms by visiting the Info Desk on the first floor of the Student Union.

The Roost Game Room: for much needed breaks

Keep gaming on in The Roost Game Room. Located on the second floor of the H-E-B Student Union, The Roost is the perfect place for a break between classes.  Enjoy video games, pool, chess, ping-pong and more at no cost. Make sure you join our weekly tournaments on Wednesday evenings to show off your gaming skills.

The giant beanbags: good for study or…a nap

The giant beanbags in the Student Union are popular for studying, breaks between classes, or catching a quick nap. To understand why, just try one out.  Find the beanbags on the first floor of the Student Union in the Window Lounge, or on the second floor surrounding the statue in the Airport Lounge.

The meditation room: a place to rest your mind

Starting a new semester can be stressful. Make sure you take care of your mind by resting and relaxing. The Student Union has a meditation room available during building hours for student use. Not sure how to meditate?  Join a guided meditation session offered monthly in collaboration with Counseling and Mental Health Services and Student Union Programs to learn more.

The Roadrunner Pantry: a resource for students

The Roadrunner Pantry is UTSA’s campus food pantry. All UTSA students can receive up to five free food and non-food items per day at the pantry with a valid student ID. The pantry is located on the first floor of the Student Union, near The UPS Store.

UCinema: free movies

The Student Union offers free movies every weekend in the Retama Auditorium – and sometimes out on the Union Lawn. This program is called UCinema and is just one of the many free events offered for students throughout the fall and spring semesters. Mark your calendar for the first UCinema of the semester, Avengers: Endgame, on Sunday, August 25th at 8pm directly following Kickback at the Union.

On-campus shopping: meets students’ needs

The Student Union is home to several retail stores where students can eat and shop with on campus convenience. The UPS Store, the Campus Technology Store and Rios Golden Cut Salon all provide stress-free shopping with great student prices. Visit the Roadrunner Express for discounted tickets, student-designed t-shirts, and UTSA spirit gear. The Student Union is also home to the Rowdy Campus Store and food options including Starbucks, Subway, Chili’s Too, Panda Express, Rowdy Mart Slice Pizza and Wings, and Rowdy's Global Kitchen.

The Downtown Student Union: a new resource!

The Student Union recently expanded to the Downtown Campus. Stop by the Information Desk on the first floor of the Durango Building for directions and details on upcoming events. Students are also invited to relax in a beanbag or play a game of pool between classes in the Downtown Game Room located on the second floor of the Frio Street Building.
