Compliance Hotline Importance of Providing Confidential Reporting Options The University of Minnesota explains it this way: “Each of us is responsible for creating and maintaining a healthy university community. This will often require asking questions if you are not sure what to do and raising questions if you see something you don’t think is right. By identifying a problem early we can prevent the problem from escalating. It is also about doing the right thing!” (Emphasis added.) Employees should be provided with several options for asking questions as well as reporting suspected wrongdoing. Oftentimes, the employee is more comfortable when confronted with these types of situations to have an anonymous confidential way of notifying the University. The UTSA Compliance Hotline provides such an option. The UTSA Hotline is operated by an independent company called The Network. The Network provides similar services to other universities and companies. Trained Interview Specialists take the callers' information and relay it to the Office of Institutional Compliance and Risk Services. The web reporting option is a prompt system that leads the employee through a series of questions.
