ENTERING INTO CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS

No employee is authorized to sign a contract or agreement, including a gift agreement, that claims to bind UTSA unless that employee has official written delegated authority to do so. Only the university’s President can delegate this authority. An employee must not sign a contract or agreement on behalf of UTSA unless he or she has proper authority to execute the document and takes all related actions required under the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents of the UT System. Questions about contracts may be directed to the Associate Vice President for Administration (Business Affairs) or the Vice President for Research.

Q: A local company downtown has asked me to conduct a survey and provide an analysis of the results. I intend to do this using UTSA
facilities and personnel. May I sign such an agreement?
A: No. Only the President, or those specifically designated by the President in writing, such as the Vice President for Business Affairs or Vice President for Research, are authorized to sign such agreements. For appropriate procedures, you should contact the Associate Vice President for Administration (Business Affairs) or Vice President for Research.
