Overview
GE2MS offers a wide range of experiences while you pursue your degree in math or science.
One-hour intro courses. An introductory course (UTE 1011) taught by two individuals who recently retired from the public schools meets for one hour a week on the UTSA Main Campus. This is a field-based course. There are no text books and no tests. The first semester deals with the elementary classroom, the following semesters are middle school (UTE 1021) and high school (UTE 1031). The three intro courses together constitute the first certification course.
Field-based experience. At the beginning of the semester you will select a teacher from one of the GE2MS partner campuses. You will be paired with another student and together you will visit that teacher's classroom five times during the semester for one class period. Before the end of the semester you and your partner will teach at least two lessons in that classroom.
