The UTSA Debate Team is housed in the college’s Department of Communication and has achieved national ranking each year for the past several years. In March 2011 the Debate Team ranked 13th overall in the nation in The National Debate Tournament standings and 9th in the varsity division ahead of other Texas schools such as Trinity and UT Austin.
COLFA leads the University in study abroad opportunities.
COLFA contributes to the education of virtually every student at UTSA through the Core Curriculum—33% of all UTSA credit hours are taught in COLFA. The American Council of Trustees and Alumni gave UTSA an “A” on its annual “What Will They Learn?” report which grades public and private universities on how well they cover core subjects. COLFA provides four of the seven subjects.
