Purpose Statement:

The Student Organization Council serves as a programming and advisory group for all student organizations. The function of the council will be to identify current and future needs of student organizations and provide for those needs through programs, services, representation, and communication.

The Scope of the Student Organization Council includes:

  • Plan and implement programs to meet the needs of all student organizations
  • Promote student organizations’ activities and involvement opportunities
  • Serve as the voice for student organizations
  • Serve as the communication link between student organizations and Student Activities, CAB,
  • Student Government, VOICES, and other campus departments
  • Make recommendations to the Assistant Director for Student Organizations concerning student organization policies and procedures

Expected Results:

Results achieved as a result of Student Organization Council programs and activities include:
  • Improved promotion of activities for and by student organizations.
  • Improved programs and services for student organizations.
  • Increased collaboration and co-sponsorships among student organizations and with campus departments.
  • Improved means to provide input about policies and procedures.
  • Increased awareness of resources available to student organizations.
  • Increased awareness of policies and procedures related to student organizations
  • Improved recruitment efforts.
  • Improved sense of community among student organizations.

Organizational Structure:

The Student Organization Council consists of four executive officers and three chairpersons:

  • President
  • Vice President-Administration
  • Vice President-Leadership Development
  • Vice President-Public Relations
  • Involvement Fair Chair
  • Homecoming Chair
  • Advisor Appreciation Chair
