Rave Reviews

Audrey,

I am a graduate student in the MA-TESL program, graduating today after two years in the program. Recently Dr. Hult suggested I meet with Eric Arellano to conduct a mock job interview for a position I knew I was going to be interviewed for with Defense Language Institute and to begin work on my Curriculum Vitae

I was absolutely impressed with Eric's skills and professionalism. He really was an expert at what he does and that was so refreshing. I was so impressed with Eric's skills that I wanted to commend him to you. I felt like I was working with a professional in the field for whose services I would have been paying a lot of money and it would have been worth it. He taught me things about the art and science of a job interview that I never knew existed.

I look forward to working with him to develop my CV, which I think is also a specific 'art form' or skill that needs to be mastered in order to be successful in the working world.

Thank you for hiring a highly qualified person; I very much appreciate it and it helps build a reputation of excellence for UTSA instead of one of mediocrity.

I would like to thank you for your hard work last week during the 2011 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championships (December 15-17).

Once again, after visiting with the NCAA Committee and Staff, we received high praise for the great job we do running NCAA Championship events. I appreciate the time and effort you gave last week to make this a memorable event for the student-athletes, coaches and staff of the participating institutions.

It is always rewarding to see people dedicated to doing an excellent job! Your efforts are truly appreciated.

I would also like to echo Jim's praise of your efforts. Thanks to Jim for his leadership and for all of your hard work. This time of year is a busy time and for you all to step up and be away from the office and your homes to help with this event was outstanding. I also heard from the Volleyball Committee and the NCAA staff on how pleased they were with your efforts. Thank you for representing UTSA Athletics and the City of San Antonio so well.

Dear President Romo:
I recently had the honor of getting to know your BACCHUS advisor and your 3 students at the BACCHUS General Assembly in Washington, DC. You should be very proud of your advisor, Kelsey N. Bratcher. It was crystal clear to me that your student organization affiliated with the BACCHUS Network is making a very positive impact on the lives of your students. The programs and activities they talked about are ones that I hope my institution would model. I was in Washington, DC as a member of the BACCHUS Board of Directors and had the privilege of observing the excitement and energy behind this student peer educator movement. In a time when our budgets are being stressed, having a program that permits students to help students deal with the challenges of growing and developing makes tremendous sense.

You should be very proud of your peer education initiative. I just wanted you to know that they represented your institution extremely well.

Sincerely yours,
Edward H. Hammond

Melissa,

The first time I met you, at your interview for your current position in Student Affairs, I knew that we would make a great team. I was so worried that night, after you left the interview, that something-anything-would go wrong—that you wouldn't be able to be hired, or that you were taking another position. You were just what I was looking for! The team member I needed!

You are usually able to figure out what I'm trying to get across even though I am doing my best not to tech-talk (and failing). You are patient (especially with me), and brilliantly creative and talented. Simply put: I could not easily function in my position without you. My art skills just aren't that good, and I wouldn't have any hair left!

It is my pleasure and honor to pass Thank You Rowdy into your capable hands. Thank you, Melissa, for all of your hard work. You work with so many other people within the university, and while the result of our teamwork may only be a small part of shaping Student Affairs for the future, it is quite visible! You make us look good! For that I cannot thank you enough.

Sincerely yours,
Stacy Peña
