The Green Fund

The Texas Green Fund Campaign is a statewide effort to encourage the creation of campus green funds for environmental projects on college and university campuses. On April 19th 2010, UTSA students voted to enact a five year Green Fund Fee to accumulate and sponsor student led initiatives.

Nine graduate students and Dr. Hazem Rashed-Ali, of the College of Architecture, surveyed UTSA sustainability activities in May 2011. The university is already ranked at the Bronze Level.

Mission

President Ricardo Romo established the UTSA Sustainability Council on Aug. 27, 2010, to enhance university efforts to support a "green" environment. The standing committee will develop a five-year plan for UTSA programs and collaboration with community organizations.

Vision

"The Sustainability Council was established in response to UTSA community interest in taking a more proactive role in this important area," said President Romo. "I am enthusiastic about what I think will be an important contribution to making UTSA and our community greener."
