Cathryn Boethel graduated from Columbia High School in West Columbia, Texas as the highest ranking student in her class. She was involved in a variety of school activities, including the National Honor Society, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, UIL Academic Team, Spanish Club, FCCLA, Choir, shot and discus, and PALS. Cathryn received honors from ATSSB for All-Region Band, ALL-Area Band, and All-State band for four years. She earned dual college credits at Brazosport College and was recognized by Brazosport College as one of the Outstanding 20 students for 2009. Outside of school, Cathryn participated in the Brazosport Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Community Band. She was selected as a featured performer in the Klassical Kids competition and was a member of the Houston Youth Symphony and Phi Theta Kappa. She received the President's Award through Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership for exceeding 100 volunteer hours in a year. Cathryn's other passion is plants, and she maintains a large greenhouse at home. She has worked at the Enchanted Forest Nursery and has been involved with the Amaryllis Society in Houston. Cathryn plans to major in music. |
