UTSA Brackenridge lecture series hosts Xicana writer
(March 9, 2004)--The UTSA Brackenridge Distinguished Lecture Series presents writer and activist Cherrie L. Moraga in two lectures that are free and open to the public.
Moraga will speak on "Indigena as Scribe: The (W)Rite to Remember" at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 11 in the Radisson Hotel Salon de Gala Room, 502 West Durango Boulevard, across from the UTSA Downtown Campus. The talk concerns U.S. literature written by people of color.

She also will speak on "An Irrevocable Promise: Re-imagining the Story Xicana" at 2 p.m., Friday, March 12 in the Business Building University Room (2.06.04) at the 1604 Campus. The lecture centers on Xicanas as portrayed in literature and plays.
The lectures are sponsored by the UTSA Department of English, Classics and Philosophy; the College of Liberal and Fine Arts; the Women's Studies Institute, the Division of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies, Trinity University and the Society for the Study of Multiethnic Literature of the United States (MELUS).
The Brackenridge lecture series is endowed by the George W. Brackenridge Foundation.
