UTSA presents 'Fiesta Under the Stars' April 22
(April 18, 2005)--The UTSA Department of Music and the San Antonio Fiesta Commission present "Fiesta Under the Stars: A Cole Porter Celebration," an official Fiesta San Antonio event, at 7:30 p.m., April 22 on the Sombrilla Plaza, 1604 Campus.
The annual outdoor music extravaganza features performances by faculty vocalists Linda Poetschke, Gary Mabry, Michael Burgess, Diana Allan and William McCrary -- accompanied by the UTSA Wind Ensemble conducted by Robert Rustowicz; UTSA Women's Choir, Jazz Choir and Wind Ensemble conducted by Gary Mabry; UTSA Orchestra conducted by Gene Dowdy; UTSA Jazz Ensemble conducted by James Balentine and UTSA Concert Choir conducted by John Silantien -- all powered by the talented music students.

Well-known Cole Porter tunes in the concert are "Let's Do It, Let's Fall In Love," "Night and Day," "Begin the Beguine," "I Get a Kick Out of You," "What Is This Thing Called Love?" "You're the Top," "Night and Day," "Brush Up Your Shakespeare," "De-Lovely" and "Anything Goes."
The event, which includes a silent auction, benefits music scholarships. A seated dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. with tickets starting at $30. General admission without the dinner is $8, $5 for military members, students and senior citizens. General admission patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic dinners.
In case of rain, the dinner will move inside the John Peace Library Building and the performance will move to the Arts Building Recital Hall.
