Painting by Cornelia White Swann

UTSA Satellite Space hosts painting exhibit

(May 7, 2009)--The UTSA Department of Art and Art History hosts the exhibit "Entre Los Dos" with work by Cornelia White Swann through May 24 at the UTSA Satellite Space, Blue Star Arts Complex Suite 115. Free and open to the public, Swann presents her M.F.A. thesis exhibition.

"Entre Los Dos" features new paintings on paper inspired by the convergence of forms in urban and natural landscapes. The artist uses different consistencies of paint from diluted to heavy brush-filled strokes to create organic forms that co-exist with the glossy hard edges of solid shapes. Within the paintings, Swann explores ideas of dissonance, harmony and the nuances that lie in between.

The gallery is at S. Alamo and Probandt streets in the Southtown district. Gallery hours are 6-8 p.m., Friday-Saturday, noon-6 p.m., Sunday, or by appointment. For an appointment, contact Connie Swann at (210) 458-4391 or the UTSA Satellite Space at (210) 212-7146.
