San Antonio Symphonic Band performs at UTSA Downtown Campus Nov. 14-15
(Nov. 12, 2009)--The UTSA Department of Music will host the San Antonio Symphonic Band conducted by UTSA Assistant Professor Donald Miller performing "Across the Pond" at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14 and 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 15 in the Buena Vista Theater at the UTSA Downtown Campus. Free and open to the public, the engaging and high-quality musical experience will appeal to people of all ages.
The concert will include pieces from England, Ireland and Scotland with compositions by R. Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst and Percy Grainger, as well as a medley of Beatles tunes arranged by Michael Sweeney. The bagpipes of the Black Bexar Pipe Band will be a special highlight at the performances.
The San Antonio Symphonic Band, formerly the San Antonio Municipal Band, is an all-volunteer, nonprofit community organization. The 23-year-old band is comprised of more than 50 dedicated San Antonio musicians representing a diversity of ages, professions and interests.
