New VIA Primo service to UTSA Main, Downtown campuses starts Dec. 17

VIA Metropolitan Transit’s new Primo high-capacity bus

(Dec. 14, 2012) -- VIA Metropolitan Transit's first high-capacity transit service will begin at 4 a.m., Monday, Dec. 17 with the inception of Primo, a bus rapid-transit line that will serve the Fredericksburg Road corridor. Primo will include service to the UTSA Main Campus and Downtown Campus.

>> VIA will give the public a free preview of Primo with limited service 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15 and Sunday, Dec. 16.

VIA will host an official launch ceremony at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15 at the South Texas Medical Center Transit Center; the event is free and open to the public.

Riders who want to try the new service can board the Primo vehicles at any of the stations along the corridor or at the new South Texas Medical Center Transit Center.

When regular service begins, riders also can catch the Primo service at the West Side Multimodal Transit Center or downtown along Commerce Street and Market Street.
