UTSA College of Public Policy hosts water pipeline discussion Sept. 29
(Sept. 23, 2014) -- The UTSA College of Public Policy will host a panel discussion on the proposal of San Antonio's new water source, the Vista Ridge Pipeline, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 29 in the Buena Vista Theater (1.326) at the UTSA Downtown Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Panelists will discuss the environmental, technical, financial and political impacts of the Vista Ridge Pipeline project. How will the pipeline impact the local economy? Will the project impact local ecosystems? How will the pipeline be built and what will be needed? What does the pipeline project mean for San Antonio's future?
Panelists at the event will include SAWS President and CEO Robert R. Puente, District 8 Councilman Ron Nirenberg, St. Mary's University Assistant Professor of Law and Registered Geoscientist Amy Hardberger and UTSA College of Engineering Dean JoAnn Browning. UTSA alumnus Robert Rivard '96, editor of The Rivard Report, will moderate the discussion.
Following remarks by the four-member panel, members of the audience will have an opportunity to ask the panel questions about the proposed Vista Ridge Pipeline project.
This is the second of three community discussions in its "Conversations on Water" series, sponsored by San Antonio Water System, which examines the impact of the Vista Ridge Pipeline proposal and other water issues facing Texas. The UTSA College of Public Policy seeks to foster academic discussion on a variety of major issues that affect the community, the nation and the world.
Free event parking will be available in unmarked spaces in lot D-3 beneath Interstate 35.
