UTSA Photo of the Day: Monarch larva is ready for wings
(Sept. 16, 2015) — This little caterpillar has big dreams. One day he’ll snuggle up in a cocoon and then emerge as the state insect of Texas, the monarch butterfly. Earlier this summer, UTSA was awarded $300,000 to study monarch butterflies and determine whether they’re endangered. This caterpillar, or larva, is in his final stage of growth and should be flapping his wings with Texas pride in no time.
