UTSA Roadrunner Days Schedule: August 22

TITLE

(August 22, 2016) -- It's our favorite time of the year. The official kick-off of UTSA's new academic year, Roadrunner Days, runs Aug. 19-28 at the Main and Downtown campuses.

Roadrunner Days events and activities give students an opportunity to take part in time-honored UTSA traditions and connect students with UTSA resources.

There are a few changes to the schedule because of the rain. Look for any other weather-related updates on the Roadrunner Days website.

Here's what's going on today:

Honors College new student breakfast
Monday, 8:30 a.m., University Center Denman Ballroom, Main Campus
New Honors College students come together to eat breakfast and meet Honors College administrators, staff, and connect with other new Honors students.

Convocation (Last names A-L)
Monday, 10 a.m., Convocation Center, Main Campus
Convocation is the annual ceremony to launch the new academic year. It is mandatory for all incoming freshmen and recommended for transfers. Students will hear from President Ricardo Romo as well as student and campus leaders. They will also learn and practice the Roadrunner Creed, UTSA Fight Song and Alma Mater.

PlayFair (Last names M-Z)
Monday, 10 a.m., Recreation Wellness Center, Main Campus
PlayFair is an entertainment event and team-building experience. Students will get a chance to see some of their friends from Orientation and meet new members of Roadrunner Nation. Dress comfortably for this memorable experience.

Convocation Luncheon
Monday, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., H-E-B University Center Ballroom, Main Campus
Celebrate this important day in the UTSA journey by having lunch with fellow classmates, the UTSA Faculty and Staff, College Deans, Vice President of Student Affairs Sam Gonzales and President Ricardo Romo.

New transfer student luncheon
Monday, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., University Center Travis Room (HUC 2.202), Main Campus
New transfer students eat together and get the inside scoop on making a successful transition from transfer student to fully involved Roadrunners.

Class of 2020 photo
Monday, 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m., Recreation Field Complex, Main Campus
The entire freshmen class gather for a class picture. They will spell out 2020, forever marking this special memory in their lives.

PlayFair (Last names A-L)
Monday, 1:15 p.m., Recreation Wellness Center, Main Campus

Explore your major
Monday, 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., various locations, Main and Downtown Campuses
This is an opportunity for students to learn and become better connected to the college where your intended major is housed. Students will meet key Faculty and Staff in the college and learn about research opportunities.

Roadrunner Mosaic
Monday, 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., H-E-B University Center Ballroom, Main Campus
The UTSA Student Center for Community Engagement and Inclusion will host the Roadrunner Mosaic to welcome new freshmen and transfer students who are part of the diverse population of UTSA. The event includes networking and a light meal.

UTSA Midnight Light
Monday, 11:30 p.m. - midnight, John Peace Blvd. entrance, Main Campus
Show your Roadrunner Spirit by joining President Romo, our very own Rowdy, The Spirit of San Antonio Marching Band (SOSA), fellow students, faculty and staff for the lighting of the Monument at the Main Campus entrance at the stroke of midnight to mark the start of a new academic year
