Annual game will honor all active duty and veteran service members

(Oct. 6, 2016) — The UTSA Roadrunners kick off against the University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles this Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. for the third home football game of the season.

Here's everything you need to know to show your Roadrunner spirit:

Military Appreciation Day
This Saturday is Military Appreciation Day at the Alamodome. All veterans and active duty military service-members will be recognized throughout the game for their service to the country. Military-affiliated fans are encouraged to come out, tailgate and enjoy the entire game atmosphere.

UTSA 6th annual food drive
Fans are encouraged to bring cans or non-perishable food items to donation bins that will be located on the VIA Bridge on the north side of the Alamodome. Monetary donations also are encouraged and accepted. Every dollar donated provides the equivalent of seven meals. All donations will be given to the San Antonio Food Bank. Anyone who donates a minimum of two items will receive one coupon for a free Whataburger (while supplies last).

Blue and Orange Madness (Pre-game)
Alamodome & Alamodome Lots B and C
Get Rowdy! Roadrunners, wear your blue and orange and support your team at Blue and Orange Madness. Join fellow UTSA fans for music, games, food and Rowdy traditions. Blue and Orange Madness includes the Spirit Walk. A couple of hours before kickoff, fans line Roadrunner Alley, located between Alamodome Lots B and C, to cheer on the players and coaches, cheerleaders, marching band and Rowdy, as they march into the Alamodome. Students can also celebrate and show off their Roadrunner pride at a gathering before and after the Spirit Walk under the train overpass.

Rowdy Town (Pre-game)
Sunset Station and VIA bridge north of the Alamodome
Rowdy Town is the ultimate College Football Game Day experience, and it’s free. There will be food, music and other ways to show UTSA spirit.

Saturday’s Spirit Walk begins at 8:45 a.m. on Cherry St. in between Lots B and C. Tailgating starts at 8 a.m. when the parking lots open.

UTSA Alumni Tailgate (Pre-game)
Sunset Station
Tailgating is a time-honored tradition at football games. The UTSA Alumni Association and San Antonio Credit Union invite fans to experience what they’re calling “the best alumni tailgate around.”  There will be food, music, a live watch party and more. For general tailgating guidelines, visit www.utsa.edu/gameday/tailgating.html.

Game day transportation
Need a lift to the game? There are several ways to get to the stadium without worrying about parking. Buy VIA bus tokens at Roadrunner Express on the U.C. Paseo for $1.25 each way. Students also can ride a free shuttle to the Alamodome between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., which leaves from in front of Laurel Village on the Main Campus. A token is required to return to campus. For detailed game day transportation information, visit www.VIAInfo.net, call 210-362-2020 or visit www.utsa.edu/gameday/parking.html.

Game day traditions & social media
Brush up on your team spirit before the game learning UTSA game traditions. And stay engaged with fellow fans by sharing your UTSA Game Day experience on social media using #UTSA #BirdsUp, #AllHandsOnDeck and #GoRunners.

"Come And Take It" flags
You’ll want to be a part of a new game day tradition. Before the fourth quarter, music and a video will play that will prompt fans to hold up their Come and Take It flags in support of the team. The idea is that heading into the fourth quarter, regardless of the score, the fans and the team are not backing down and will give it their all. As Coach Wilson says, “All Hands on Deck!”

There are special orange Come and Take It Flags available now. Learn more about UTSA Football's newest tradition

Half-Time concert with Kourtney Heart, Military Tribute
R&B recording artist Kourtney Heart will perform live during half-time. Listen to Heart’s music here. The half-time show also will double as a special tribute to veterans and active duty members of the armed forces.

Can't make it? Watch or listen live!
Can't physically be there but still want to cheer on the Roadrunners? Catch it live on the American Sports Network or San Antonio’s Ticket 760 Radio. Click here for a full breakdown of how you can keep up with each game.
