MAY 26, 2020 — COVID-19 has changed our lives in innumerable ways, including how we experience the performing and visual arts.
Five of UTSA’s top experts will discuss this week the challenges and opportunities ahead for local arts organizations and educators during a live interactive webinar titled Reimagining the Future of the Arts in San Antonio and Beyond.
Participants will be able to submit questions to the panel in a chat room during the live event, which begins at noon on May 27.
“Our panel of experts spans several types of arts organizations,” said Tracy Cowden, chair of UTSA’s Department of Music and moderator for the event. “Anyone with an interest in keeping artistic expression alive—given our current public gathering limitations and uncertain future—will get a lot out of this conversation. Our city and our students need the arts now more than ever before.”
UTSA panelists on reimagining the arts are Tracy Crowden, Libby Rowe, William McCrary, Troy Peters and Costanza Roeder.
Panelists for the webinar are Libby Rowe, associate professor of art; William McCrary, director of the Lyric Theatre and associate professor of music; Troy Peters, director of the UTSA Orchestra and music director for the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio; and Constanza Roeder, CEO of Hearts Need Art and a UTSA research partner and guest lecturer.
